Choose The Right Niche

Don’t jump on to whatever book you see selling on kdp. I know many people who just watch random YouTube videos on KDP & do exactly what they see in the video.

If you are someone who is doing the same, this is the time to stop. because it is not only you who is watching the video.

There are other 10 if not hundreds of others, who are seeing the same video & copying the exact same thing.

Not only doing this might be competitive but importantly it isn’t worth it.

Rather get inspired by the video, apply the strategies they show & find a good niche for yourself.

Common niches like floral, animal, cars, etc are saturated ( for no content books ) & books like planners, log books, and journals are thousands out there. so, if you just add one to the list, it will get buried on the last page.

Rather spend some time, do your work, research as much as you can & find a niche for yourself.

This niche should have a decent search volume & minimum competition & one of the best ways to find your niche is by using a tool called Book Bolt.

Write SEO Optimized Title & Captivating Book Description

This is important because it will make or break your book for your customers. titles are what your potential customers see first when they glance at your book. So, it needs to be hooking & almost similar to what your customers are looking for

Important Tips about KDP Book title – Read This before your KDP Account Gets Suspended.

1. Don’t use trademark words in the title, also don’t copy another best-selling book title in your niche.

I had a client who created a guest journal & she used the exact title of another book that was hot selling in that niche. First, it was very hard to get it published because Amazon is really strict about what they sell

And somehow due to some tweaks, she got it published but within a week it was blocked & just a week ago her account was suspended.

So please be really careful

Also if you are using ChatGPT for titles, make sure to check the words for trademark.

2. Avoid repeating words in the titles, from the past 3 weeks many kdp accounts are getting suspended due to this. So make sure you don’t do this.

Because these repeating keywords in the title are triggering KDP Algorithm & flagging it as Keyword Stuffing & Spam

3. Use the Correct Capitalization format & make sure you check your spelling & grammar because once the book is published you cannot change the title.
4. You can use AI for the Product description but as I said make sure you check it for trademark.
   ChatGPT can come really handy for writing the product description but I personally use Writesonic for this.
5. Use relevant keywords in the title & description but don’t do keyword stuffing.
6. be accurate & don’t you ever promise something that your book doesn’t deliver

Create an Eye-Catching Cover

Your book cover is the first thing readers see, and it can make or break your sales.

Invest in a professional cover designer who can create an eye-catching cover that represents your book’s content accurately. I recommend this only if you are publishing a full fledge book or a novel…this doesn’t make sense for no/low-content books.

Avoid using generic stock photos or amateur designs that may turn off potential readers.

Price Your Book Competitively

This is really important. You don’t want to sell your price too low because it will be a loss & the customers might presume your book as a low-quality book & you don’t want to price your book so high that you lose on potential customers.

So, it is crucial that you price your book right & this can be done by studying the competition.

Research the books in your niche, find the pattern & price your book accordingly.

Leverage KDP Select

KDP Select is a program that offers exclusive benefits to authors who publish exclusively on Amazon for 90 days.

In exchange, authors gain access to promotional tools such as Kindle Countdown Deals and Free Book Promotion. Participating in KDP Select can increase your book’s visibility and lead to more sales.

This applies to high-quality content books like ebooks, novels, and books in the fiction & nonfiction genre.

If you are a part of KDP Select, your customers who are Kindle paid subscribers can download your book for free & you’ll earn royalties on the number of pages they read.

Utilize Social Media

Don’t think – Just because you publish on Amazon, you’ll be earning money on auto-pilot. which might be true for established authors but if you are just getting started… you have a long journey ahead my friend.

Publishing on Amazon is just a part of it, the major factor that decides how much money you can make with kdp depends upon how much sales you can get.

Yes! Amazon is a big marketplace that gets millions of traffic daily, but how much does this traffic can see your book?

There are many books on Amazon that are buried way deep, who hasn’t seen a ray of traffic & if you don’t want to end up the same.

Promote your book -Social media is an excellent tool for promoting your book and connecting with potential readers.

Create social media profiles for yourself and your book, publish quality content daily and engage with your audience regularly.

Share updates on your writing process, post teasers, and offer exclusive content to your followers.

Use Paid Advertising

Not talking about Google/Youtube or Facebook ads…Amazon allows paid ads for books which will put your book on the map. Paying a small price to Amazon can get you the headstart that you need to start getting sales. but I won’t recommend this for complete beginners.

First, get familiar with publishing a book on Amazon, and play around with Keyword Research, SEO, and Niches & only when you know that your book is worth it…invest money in amazon Ads.

Use KDP Free Promotional Tools

KDP gives you access to many tools like A+ Content, KDP Select, Free Promotion, etc. Use it to your advantage as much as possible.

Especially A+ Content…this is a section where you can share what makes your book special… you can give a sneak peek of your book, its interior, etc

Consider Audiobooks

This applies to high-quality books – nowadays people are too busy to sit down & read. So, most people prefer audiobooks that they can listen to when they are traveling, working out, cooking, etc…So audiobooks are high in demand.

So if you have a high-content book – do give the audiobooks a try.

Keep Publishing

But here is the fact…if you keep working, bettering yourself, doing better niche selection, keyword research, designing better interiors & covers & publishing a quality book.

And the main point – KDP is not quality vs quantity.

Just because I said you might have to publish 100 books doesn’t mean you go ahead & publish 100’s low-quality garbage books.

Not only it is a time waste & opportunity cost with no earning but it might also lead to kdp account termination & mind you

If your kdp account is suspended once…you are done!

You can’t create another – even if you do…it won’t survive
